Seminar Rules

1. Unless otherwise noticed, it is assumed that the space plasma seminars be held on Fridays, every week, starting from 3pm.

2. The seminar may be cancelled if there is a schedule conflict with other unavoidable events (e.g., national holiday, conferences, etc).

3. Everybody can (and is encouraged to) volunteer to give a seminar anytime. If there is no volunteer, the person at the top of the 'seminar waiting list' (not shown in the homepage) is assumed to take charge. After giving the seminar, the speaker can move his/her name to the bottom of the list.

4. Person who gave voluntary seminars more than three times within any six months period will be granted the title of seminarian emeritus: with the title, the person is allowed to give honorary seminars of any length at any time.

5. The person on duty can choose to postpone his/her seminar for a week if other talk(s) relevant to space plasma physics has already been given by somebody else (e.g., by a guest speaker) earlier in the same week.

6. Every time we have new members to the lab, their names are added at the bottom of the 'waiting list'.

7. What to discuss in the seminar is completely up to the person in charge. Possible topics are, recent developments of his/her individual research, introduction of articles the speaker has found in recent research journals, and reports of scientific sessions in a workshop the speaker has recently attended.

8. It is recommended that copies of the article(s) to be discussed in the seminar, if any, be distributed to other participants in advance, perhaps a few days prior to the actual seminar, so that enough time is ensured for discussions.
